this is a good quality sword for practicing but a fraction of the cost of a Japanese sword. Beware the blade is extremely sharp and highly recommend the maintenance kit as the sword needs to be cleaned and oiled every time you use it and at least monthly if just displayed.

I was worried about a 29 inch blade affecting the balance, but I don't even notice. Well made, put it through a few tests and nothing came loose. Cuts like a champ.
If you ever want to buy a starter sword for a decent price this would absolutely be the best choice. The packaging was great with no damage in site and it came much faster then anticipated. The sword itself is finely made and was pretty sharp on arrival. I am not experienced with swords but I am very happy with my purchase.
I was very impressed by the quality of this katana when I pulled it out of the box. The blade was well made and came with a certificate of authenticity that detailed the basic qualities of the sword as a whole. I wouldn't say it was razor sharp but it was sharp enough to do the basic cut tests, in which it held as expected for it's particular price. The artwork on the handle is well crafted and gives it it's own unique look which I personally like. I would say it's better than average for its price, so if you want a better sword you'll need to pay more.
My son loves to collect these, we gave it to him for Xmas and he loves it. Of course we do control when and how he handles it. He shows it off to all his friends. Great addition to his collection
This was a Christmas gift for my fiance. I also purchased the display case so he could hang it on the wall. High quality and very impressive. Now I want one, too!
I love this sword. I have had it for over a year now and have used it time and time again to chop through things I probably shouldn't put it through but it has handled it like a champ. Can't wait to purchase another one.
I was apprehensive before purchasing a product from Cold Steel for the first time but they did not disappoint. This sword is solid, heavy, and EXTREMELY sharp. The blade is more than a quarter inch thick for virtually the entire length of the blade. The blade is monotempered steel, and is not Damascus (folded) steel as is traditional with this type of sword, but nonetheless this is a quality weapon for the consumer that is not able to purchase a more authentic katana.
This sword was bought to give away to the winner of the Kumite that I host each year. I know the blade passed the paper test, the sword is well balanced and it is a very nice looking sword. The winner will probably hang it.
